Today is Brisbane’s first opportunity to view the planned transformation of the Queen’s Wharf precinct in Brisbane from an under-utilised government quarter into a world-class entertainment and leisure destination. In her past life Meaghan worked closely with families as a nurse and vacation care co-ordinator but can now
be found awkwardly scaling play equipment with her two kids, enjoying
a leisurely walk or reading a book. There are multiple transport options available for accessing the Sky Deck at
Queen’s Wharf Brisbane including walking, driving and public transport.
Visitors will find accessible toilets and baby changing facilities throughout the Queen’s
Wharf precinct at various locations, including the Sky Deck.
If you are looking for a bite to eat for breakfast, dinner and everything in between, there are several venues located on the Sky Deck including Cicada
    Blu, Aloria and Babblers.
The largest city-based excavation project in Queensland’s history has commenced with a
sod-turning ceremony to break ground for the new $3 billion world-class Queen’s
Wharf Brisbane integrated resort. A major milestone in the project’s delivery was reached with
the opening of The Star Brisbane in late 2024, one
of the precinct’s flagship hotels, which is now
welcoming guests and activating the riverfront with new dining,
entertainment and leisure experiences. The ultimate development
will include four 5- and 6-star hotels, architecturally
designed residential buildings, activation of restored heritage buildings and high quality public open space re-linking the city to the waterfront of the
    Brisbane River.

    substantial placemaking projects including Brisbane
Quarter, Hilton Gold Coast and Riparian Plaza. They’ll be joined by several other outlets, including a mammoth sports bar,
plus the main casino floor and premium gaming rooms. The deadline to
reach a deal on the sale of Star Entertainment’s stake in Brisbane’s Queen’s Wharf precinct has
been extended, as the casino operator desperately fights to avoid administration.

per cent stake in the $3.6 billion Queen’s Wharf casino complex, and the Treasury car park and hotel.
Star told investors on Tuesday morning it had
finally signed a deal with its Hong Kong partners — including
one which was once linked to organised crime figures.
It includes two separate buildings – the western building which has been vacant since a fire in May 2020, and the Queens Wharf Hotel, along with two car parks,
a public promenade and the Transport for NSW owned ferry wharf.
Building inspections will get underway today before the work moves
under the wharf later next week, pending favourable swell and wind conditions.

Star Brisbane CEO Daniel Finch announced that the
initial opening period will be staggered over several weeks
to ensure smooth operations, preparing team members, testing facilities,
and optimising processes for guest satisfaction. Future stages will introduce the Dorsett and Rosewood hotel towers,
a Velo Café, and luxury retail destinations, with
opening dates to be announced in the coming months. Conveniently set in the center of

Kong investors Queen’s Wharf Brisbane was declared a Priority
Development Area on 28 November 2014 to facilitate the planning and delivery of

“Our priority is jobs and this project provides thousands – in construction and in operating this city changing development,” the Premier said.

The design aims to integrate tourism, leisure and entertainment
facilities in an underutilised part of the city. By October
2021 the lift cores for both the Dorsett hotel and Rosewood hotels had reached level 21.

The project also includes a 1,500 seat-ballroom and a Sky Deck observation platform with 360 degree views.

Under Friday’s deal, The Star will hand over its Queen’s
Wharf stake to Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and Far East Consortium, who own the
rest of the development in equal proportion, and they
in turn, will hand over their stakes in the two Gold Coast towers, of which they each own a
third. Star’s financial results showed each poker machine in the Brisbane casino was still making $372
per day on average. It remains to be seen how Queen’s Wharf will impact on Brisbane’s existing operators, but the state government was warned its casino patrons
would largely be locals, rather than the international tourists Star claimed.
Star reported a 10 per cent drop in revenue for Treasury casino in Brisbane – which
still raked in $177.6 million in six months – due to steps taken to deal with
problem gamblers, such as exclusions and time restrictions.

In a market update on Thursday, Star recommitted to a staged opening from August after earlier delays and
with the consortium having to push back the opening of hotels and repurposed heritage buildings.
The Star Entertainment Group is sticking with an August start date for the staged opening of Queen’s Wharf despite rising costs
and a drop in gambling revenue from its two existing casinos in Queensland.
